Cost Breakdown
The total cost of the commissioned quilt can be broken down into three categories, materials, piecing the top, quilting & finishing.
Materials: the cost of fabric has really gone up in the last several years and currently averages $20-$25/meter. Depending on the size of your quilt you can expect to pay $80-$600 for fabric, batting, backing, and notions alone.
Time to piece the quilt top: a simple pattern on a small quilt could be done quickly (7-10 hours) ranging up to 100+ hours for a large and complex quilt.
I will do my best to give you an accurate estimate on how many hours your quilt top will take to assemble. The cost for piecing works out to about $20/hour.
Long arming and finishing: This is the final step to completing the quilt. The cost here will be determined using the pricing calculators under the Pricing page.
